Need financial support?

Illumma has many ways to make ketamine more affordable!

Please note: Although insurance doesn't cover Ketamine, you can still get reimbursed for several aspects of your visit by using SuperBills.

Long before we opened our doors at Illumma in Austin, we knew our journey was going to change lives. And we knew there would be a few bumps along the way. It’s funny how the obstacles you anticipate are not necessarily the obstacles you actually face. Conversely, the fulfillment you hope for is far more exhilarating than you could ever imagine.

We deeply believe in the benefits of ketamine infusion therapy to treat a wide variety of mental health issues, from depression and anxiety to things like bipolar disorder, OCD and chronic pain conditions. We knew our patients would find relief. We had no idea how much it would help them though. The transformations we’ve seen remain fresh in our minds.

People who thought there was no hope. People who tried everything and nothing worked. People who were ready to take drastic measures to end their suffering. Even after just one treatment, they finally found relief – the heavy weight of darkness was lifted.

This is why we opened Illumma. We want to help people heal. We understand the weight of mental health issues, because we’ve struggled with them too.

That being said, there are a few things we hear rather consistently that often stand in the way of someone trying ketamine infusion therapy, so we’d like to address those two things today and bust the “myths” with a dose of truth.

Why does ketamine needs to be administered as an infusion?

Why is it so expensive?

Best Bang for Your Buck (& Brain)

If you’ve ever been to the hospital for a routine procedure or an operation, you know that as soon as you get an IV, you feel results. If you’re sick from being dehydrated, an IV of fluids will have you feeling better immediately. If you’re in pain, an IV of pain medication will give you relief. That’s because an intravenous infusion gives you the most precise and biologically available dose compared to other methods like IM, oral or intranasal.

The same theory applies to ketamine. In order for you to experience the very best results, we have to be able to give you the most precise amount. That’s why an IV is the best vehicle for administering ketamine. With an IV, we can give you the right amount of ketamine that is 100% bioavailable, in other words, your brain will have access to all of the drug for the maximum benefit. This is not only the most effective way to administer ketamine, it’s also the safest.

At Illumma, our practitioners design a custom protocols for each patient and you are an active participant in the creation of your plan. By using IV, our trained infusionists can slow down the infusion, increase the dose or even give you something to immediately stop the experience. Knowing that you’re in control and being monitored but a trained clinician, allows you to fully relax and surrender to the healing power of ketamine and from that place transformation can occur.

The Cost of Care

An understandable roadblock for some people is the cost. While you may see lower prices for ketamine infusion therapy elsewhere, make sure you’re comparing apples-to-apples. IV Ketamine therapy administered by licensed professionals is a significant investment for a variety of reasons.

Like other businesses, Illumma pays for rent, utilities, overhead (furniture, lighting), insurance and medical supplies. To ensure your safety and wellbeing during every visit, we invest in our staff. That means we offer paramedic monitoring of our patients through the entire infusion. Plus, we have advance providers in the clinic at all times. We also make sure you get the best when it comes to patient coordination, so someone is there to greet, comfort and communicate with you.

What you might not know is we recognize the cost can be prohibitive, so we take extra steps to make ketamine infusion therapy more available to the people who need it. We offer monthly discounts, as well as ongoing financial support for first responders & veterans. To lessen the financial burden even more clients we have partnered with a 3rd party financing company, Optimum Practice Financial, that will allow you to pay for your therapy over 12 – 36 months.

At Illumma, our mission to help people heal is truly a “labor of love.” We’re thrilled to witness the transformations in our patients’ lives and we’re committed to doing that in the safest, most professional environment possible.

If you’ve thought about ketamine infusion therapy, but were afraid to take the next step, we hope this article has given you comfort and peace of mind  — you’re in good hands with us at Illumma.
